April Update

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
— Philippians 1:6

As the semester comes to a close, with graduation, summer plans and development of future strategies on everyone’s mind, it is also time for reflection.  As I was reading Paul’s letter to the church in Philippi, I am reminded of what is really going on with the transformation of lives we’re seeing all around us here at LPC Ignite.
As Paul expresses his thanks to the Philippian believers he speaks of the confidence he has in how God is working amongst them.  Not a confidence in his leadership abilities and persuasiveness, where the impact is tied back to strategy, structure or program but rather confidence in the fact that when God starts something in the life of His Church and more significantly in the lives of believers, He will complete it.
Here at LPC–Ignite, as we pursue God together, focusing on His Word, applying our learning and maturing to the community we have chosen to be a part of, we too can be confident that God is at work in each of our lives.  Structure and program and human abilities are valued and play a role, but it is the divine initiative of God in each of our lives where find the confidence in the lasting transformation that is taking place.
I am proud of our students.  I am thankful for the community God has brought together for learning, training and building.  And I am confident that the work God has begun in each of their lives will be completed!

Ignite Letter

Spring Preview Highlights

  • Our recruitment team led by Hailey Graven hit it out of the ballpark. One of the most inspiring parts of this weekend was the level of involvement, energy and ownership of the event by freshman at every level of the planning, organizing and implementation of the weekend. Secondly, the maturity, stability and support from our upper-class students was inspiring. We had selfless "let's make this happen" attitudes across the board. What an incredible student body we have!
  • The student body’s heart for worship, prayer and ministry was seen across the board. I hope we never lose sight of the fact that showing the love and message of Jesus in everything we do is what counts most
  • Our very own Shannon Dunn hosted this year’s annual Spring Preview Coffee House. The level of talent in our student body was incredible to witness. We were reminded as we watched and listened, of the genuine, sincere vibe of our school that resides in the hearts and minds of our incredible students.

The weekend was a success and we want to personally thank the various leadership groups, staff and faculty who came out and gave their support to a 100% student led event. We have heard that this was the smoothest and most fun Preview to date! They've all been good, but they just keep getting better and better!

A church plant birthed out of revival and built in 1908 is now the extended classroom site of LPC Ignite in downtown Christiansburg, VA.

A note from one of the many organizations Ignite students faithfully serve at each week:

I was getting the closet ready to open this Saturday and because of the wonderful job the Ignite young people did, it made my job so easy. They did a TREMENDOUS job!
They worked solid for the whole time…they sang and entertained me…and they prayed over me- such a blessing! I want to thank you and the group from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to do this for Caleb’s Closet and for Tried Stone. What a blessing you are to the community. You are an amazing group of young men and women, and I know God is going to use your mightily. Love to you and I wish you many blessings.
God Bless,
Ms. Linda – Caleb’s Closet
