Thy word is a lamp unto my feet...

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." (Psalm 119:105 KJV)

Graduation season is once again upon us. Social Media is keeping all of us up to date on the countless number of friends and family members who are celebrating the completion of this season in their lives. President Jim J Adams announced at graduation that between both campuses, Life Pacific College in San Dimas, CA and LPC Ignite in Christiansburg, VA, we have the largest graduating class since the days of our founder, Aimee Semple McPherson. What an incredible two weeks this has been with Commencement activities on both sides of the country. Congratulations to all of our graduates. We are incredibly proud of you.

Living life every day with college students certainly has its challenges. The ebb and flow of campus life, academic rigor, varying personalities, community life – all while keeping up with a tight schedule, the demands of a structured program and personal pressures. I was asked a few years ago about the ethos of LPC Ignite and our approach to academics, discipleship, community service and global outreach. What is it that we do here at Ignite that is so unique? The answer is actually quite simple.

We welcome high school graduates willing to step outside of their comfort zone. We then begin a regiment of getting into the Word of God. We walk side by side with our students as the pressures of life come their way, and we take them back to the Word of God. Here is what we know to be true: living away from home and going to college can be difficult; college classes are hard; money does not grow on trees; personal relationships are tricky; and serving others is both rewarding and tiresome. However, we also know this to be true: The Word of God lights the path we are on; if we hide the Word of God in our heart our character is strengthened; and the Word of God remains forever. LPC Ignite is built on the premise that “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16) Going to a college where everything is processed and disseminated from a biblical worldview is what separates us from most colleges and universities.

As I watch our graduates walk down the aisle at graduation I am always caught off guard by the emotions I feel. Not sadness of course because like them I too am relieved the year has come to a close. No, the emotion is one of pride and satisfaction. Proud of them, how far they’ve come, how much they have matured, and how confident they are as they step out into the next season of their life. A small Christian college certainly is not for everyone but for those for whom the Lord has brought our way, we are thankful that they have chosen to walk out their training and education experience with us. We celebrate today the accomplishments of our grads, and with our feet firmly planted on the Truth and promises of God in His Word, we prepare ourselves for the next class to step outside of their comfort zone and onto the Ignite campus in just three months!

Thank you to our Foursquare and Life Pacific College - Ignite family and friends. Without your financial and prayer support and without your efforts in directing students to our college, we would not be seeing the incredible results that we are. And of course, we are eternally grateful to the Lord for His provision and grace as we launch into our 10th year of Ignite. He has been so good to us!
